Notes from my first week living in San Francisco
I’ve been in San Francisco for three weeks now… I have joined the apple cult and purchased a MacBook Pro. Here are some things I remember from my first week being in San Francisco.
Monday
I left Seattle on the 6AM flight to San Francisco and made it to the Flood Building in San Francisco at 10AM. I was started pair programming with team members of my new employer Pivotal Labs by 10:10. Note: My opinions published here are my own and do not reflect those of my employer. Want more about Pivotal? Go read Reintroducing… Pivotal Labs. I found my new home in Japantown after a short 45 minute walk from work, had some food and slept. The reason for that 45 minute walk? The buses that leave downtown after work are packed and I don’t think I would’ve fit on them with my backpack and everything else I was carrying.
Tuesday
Work, Code, and then a BBQ. At the BBQ I briefly met Terrance Parr and listened in as he discussed his just released ANTLR 3., neat stuff.
Wednesday
- Notable: Saw a person, mostly naked, but quasi-dressed in ONLY a hospital gown attempting to hail a cab from the middle lane of a 3 lane street.
Thursday
- Walked 25 minutes to an ATM that would take deposits… it was out of order.
Friday
- Lunch in Yerba Buena Gardens
