Samsung Blackjack and Gmail/Google Maps
Update for you BlackJack owners on Cingular, get your extended battery for free if you haven’t already.
Unusual and a nice gesture from Cingular, but if you got your BlackJack a while ago then it came with two standard batteries. In my experience the standard battery lasts less than a day if you are using 3G and have Push Email enabled all day.
When I last spoke about the Cingular BlackJack I only linked to people talking about solutions. This time I will link to a working solution. I haven’t tried this personally because random binaries on the intarwebnet frighten me, but people seem to be having luck with this “installer” package.
Go to get your Gmail/Google Maps binaries for Windows Mobile. Keep in mind, these are produced by a random person I don’t know, so have some fear.
Posted below is a modified version of the IMB J9 JVM. Also included in the ZIP are the Gmail and Google Maps midlets. Follow the instructions below (also in the ZIP file). You will need to copy the Tahoma fonts from your Windows machine to the phone (as instructed). Once installed, you will be able to use the Gmail and Google Maps midlets and the fonts will be much more readable than if you install the the non-modified J9 JVM. If you’ve already installed the J9 JVM, you will need to uninstall it before proceeding. Samsung Blackjack and Gmail/Google Maps
