These tamales are the best. I can't eat any others because they don't even come close to how good Los Hernandez makes them. The tamales aren't MADE on site, they're made at Los Hernandez tamale and masa plant about 10 miles south of the tamale shop. They arrive to the tamale shop where the final steaming is done just before they are ordered and taken away by the lucky customers. They are made FRESH every morning, by hand. They go great with the salsa provided at the tamale shop. The frozen ones are best baked or fried up.
It is unfortunate that a couple of you claimed that there was no flavor, or that they were runny. Many other restaurants serve tamales with weird sauces poured over them, maybe that's what you were expecting, but I guarantee that without those sauces, you'd find the most blandest masa on earth. Los Hernandez has a very unique masa, and it's appreciated all over Eastern Washington, just check out the local grocery stores, he sells it to them. The "runny" part is usually only on the exterior, and is because it's the freshest out of the steamer, try frying it a little.
Enjoy!

I agree with Mary Suazo, these tamales had no favor or texture to them.
The owner was telling how good they were so I bought three dozen what a waste of money. I don't think they make them on site.

How did you heat them up? Did they get water logged in the cooler?

Best way to have the frozen tamales, are to fry them up in a pan. They get a little crispy on the outside. They are never complete without their salsa... imo. ;-)

I just purchase two dozen of these tamales and I am not happy with them, they are running there is no texture to them at all. I can't even find the number to call and complain that I paid too much for these tamales.

Hernandez Tamales are the best I have ever tasted. The tamales I have tasted at the several Mexican resturants I have been to, do not hold a candel to Hernandez Tamales. Their salsa they make adds even more flavor to them.

Donna,

The "getting shot at" was a reference to the Capitol Hill shootings that happened a while back, not to the Yakima/Union Gap area. And of course I was visiting from Seattle.

I have personally eaten many of these tamales, both chicken and pork and they are DELICIOUS!! Los Hernandez has been in business for 15 years in the Yakima/Union Gap area.

I haven't seen many people being shot at and I've lived here for 15 years. I hope you are visiting the good areas of the Pacific Northwest. Let me guess, you're probably from the Seattle area.....am I right??
